Millions of individuals incorporate the beauty of candles in their homes — for celebrations, romance, spiritual purposes and even just for relaxing. Candles are a wonderful way to add style and warmth to your home. They can also release a beautiful aroma that freshens and fragrances the air. Saranga Thakre is an expert in making designer Candles. She started Candle Mart in Pune in 2011 as a one stop shop for making lovely decorative candles. She also conducts professional workshops on Candle making.
Saranga’s journey in the field of art started with an introspection of what interests her and what would keep her happily busy in the long run. She knew that she had a creative mind which was inherited from her Mom who used to make creative stuff out of waste. However, being from IT field, she was always persuaded by her family to concentrate on a highly paid job. She used to feel jealous of her sisters who always used to make masterpieces in numerous art works. Then one day her sister with one of her friends thought of working with candles. Both of them backed out after experiencing so many failures, but Saranga didn’t give up. Gradually, after multiple trials and errors, she started improving but the perfectionism of a professional candle maker was still eluding her.
In 2008, she was posted at London for official work. Coincidentally, her neighbour was selling handmade professional candles and she started learning from her. After coming back to India, she practised it for couple of years and then in 2011, she officially brought Candle Mart in reality. She mastered the art of creating designer candles and received good response in exhibitions. Her huge range of decorative candles are made in various shapes, sizes and designs. It includes various types of Candles like T-light, Floating Candle, Gel Candle, Coffee Candle, Pillar Candle, Chunk Candle, Egg Candle, Stacked Candle, Multilayer Candle and Ice Candle. With the growing popularity of her artwork, she also started making customised designer candles based on client’s requirements.
She also found that lot of people are interested in learning this art. But, just like how she sets a high bar for herself at work in an IT MNC, she thought that she has not reached the level so as to able to teach others. But, destiny kept on knocking her door. She started getting lots of inquiries on workshops. Finally, she decided to give it a try. She started with one student with a nominal charge and then gradually increased in numbers as her students were highly appreciative of her workshops. The inquiries for workshops kept on growing with positive word of mouth and there was no looking back. She keeps on raising the bar and enhances her workshop content with innovative techniques so that her students can make the most out of it. With the growing demand, she also started selling the raw materials required for candle making.

With the growing demand for her designer candles and workshops and the positive response she has received from her patrons, she is leaving no stone unturned to grow Candle Mart in Pune and beyond.
