Pharmaceutical sciences combine a broad range of scientific disciplines that are critical to the discovery and development of new drugs and therapies. Increase in the size of middle class households coupled with the improvement in medical infrastructure and increase in the penetration of health insurance in India, make it a strong candidate to become a future powerhouse of R&D and manufacturing in pharmaceuticals. Many educators in India are contributing significantly towards advancement of this science, transforming the future of healthcare for the benefit of all. Meet Dr. Neetesh Jain, Associate Professor and Head, R&D and Department of Pharmacology in Department of Pharmacy, Oriental University, Indore, who has received multiple awards for his outstanding research in Pharmacy and innovative pedagogical methodologies.
I chose Pharma Science discipline because a Pharmacist is a true ambassador for promoting rational use of medicines in healthcare and I was always interested in this field of science which is related to Drug Discovery.
Dr Neetesh Jain
Dr Neetesh completed his B. Pharm from Technocrats Institute of Technology, Bhopal, in 2006. He completed his M. Pharm with specialization in Pharmacology from B.R. Nahata College of Pharmacy, Mandsaur, in 2008. He joined Oriental University, Indore, in 2011 and has been associated with the Institution ever since. He currently works as Associate Professor & Head, Department of Pharmacology.
I wanted to join Clinical Research Organization (CRO) after my MPharm and it wasn’t in my plans initially to become an educator. But, due to the recession of 2008, I had to take up the career in education. However, as I love Pharma Science, I never compromised on my vision towards quality education and research.

Antifertility
His research has shown that the methanolic extract of Boerhaavia diffusa root showed significant antifertility activity by means of potent antiestrogenic and anti-implantation, in a dose-dependent manner.
Drug-drug interaction (DDI)
He carried out an extensive study to estimate the rate and factors associated with potential DDI in cardiac and neurological prescriptions from the out-patient department of various hospitals. It shows how proper emphasis on drug information center and training of clinical pharmacy across the country can play an important role in minimizing DDIs.
Cow urine therapy on cancer patients
He carried out a survey based study in a camp at Mandsaur district. The object of this survey was to evaluate efficacy of cow urine therapy on various cancer patients who came from different states of India. His survey showed that the patients who were receiving cow urine therapy since 2-3 months benefited the most from the therapy.
My mission and vision of Research is only to promote rational use of Medicine and provide unbiased Drug information to all the healthcare professionals and consumer for a Healthy World.
