Education plays a vital role in building the future of our nation by transforming lives and communities. We have several educator heroes who help students aim high and achieve their potential, often meeting and overcoming considerable challenges along the way. Recently Delhi based MT Research & Educational Services (MTRES) came up with the second edition of their Teaching Excellence Awards (TEA) 2019, to recognize the monumental role teachers play in our society to create tomorrow’s leaders as they instil a desire to learn and achieve. The awards celebrate the efforts of all those who go above and beyond to promote excellence within our education system. Meet Dr. D. S. R. Chandra Murthy, Professor in Computer Science and Engineering and Controller of Examinations (for JNTUH examinations), at Geethanjali College of Engineering and Technology (GCET), Hyderabad, who has been honoured with Excellent Teacher Award in MTRES TEA 2019.
Dr. Murthy completed his B.E. in Electronics in 1982 from Bangalore University, M. Tech. in CSE in 1985 from Osmania University and Ph.D. in CSE in 2011 from JNTU Hyderabad. In a career spanning over 34 years, he has worked for multiple institutes of repute in India. He has earlier worked as Lecturer in CSE at REC, Warangal; Assistant Professor in CSE at JNTUCE, Anantapur; Academic Coordinator at Icfaian Foundation, Hyderabad; Associate Professor in CSE and Professor in IT at SNIST, Hyderabad. He is associated with his current institution, Geethanjali College of Engineering and Technology (GCET), since 2014.

Dr. D. S. R. Chandra Murthy
He has published two text books : C and Data Structures, First Edition, UniTech Series, Vijaya publications, Hyderabad, 2003; C Programming and Data Structures, Revised Second Edition, UniTech Series, VGS Book links, Vijayawada, 2007. He is also co-owner of two patents: Node Integrity based authentication model for Dynamic Wireless Communication Networks, H04L29/06:H04L9/00, No. 05/2018, 02-02-2018; Authentication Model for Wireless Communication, H04B1/71637, 23-02-2018.
His research interests are Image Processing, Image Cryptography, Network Security, Data Mining and Machine Learning. Under his guidance, 2 research scholars have submitted Ph.D. thesis and 4 Research Scholars are pursing their doctoral research.
He is a Member of IEEE, Member of IDES, Fellow of IE (I), Fellow of IETE, Senior Life Member of Computer Society of India, Life Member of ISTE, Life Member of SSI, Member of IACSIT, DOEACC Expert member and Chartered Engineer (IE (I) and IETE). He is Active Reviewer of various international journals and SAI Conference, London, UK. He was awarded Bharat Ratna Dr. Abdul Kalam Gold Medal Award 2019, by GEPRA, New Delhi.
He aspires to continue to mentor, motivate and encourage young faculties and guide in their research. Likewise, he would like to continue to provide career and academic guidance to his students.
