Mindspark is the national level, annual technical festival of College of Engineering, Pune. In its Decade Edition, this technical extravaganza comprised of over 50 events dealing with each and every branch of engineering sciences and a special non-technical section. Numerous workshops were organised pan Maharashtra and in Pune to spread the knowledge of the best and the newest innovations and creations of the technological world. With a footfall of over 18000 in three days, organising The Most Celebrated Engineering Fest of Pune required humungous effort from a highly aligned team. Meet the core team that worked hard behind the scenes to make the event a grand success !
The core team was formed by the members of the previous year’s core committee. The selection process involved screening of candidates meticulously and rating them on a variety of parameters like involvement and dedication in previous years’ editions, work done as coordinators, confidence, ability to think on their feet, attitude towards work, ability to work under pressure and adaptability. The extended team included coordinators and volunteers who joined various portfolios based on their interests. Interviews were held for selection into the team which tested for quick thinking and creativity
The entire team was formed 4 months prior to the events. A specially dedicated office for MindSpark became the hub for all brainstorming and discussions and a place for the entire team to meet and build the event piece by piece. Division of the team into various portfolios helped in efficient management of time and resource. Each member focussed on the tasks of his or her own portfolios but at the same time played a key role in the shaping of the entire event. Regular meetings to discuss progress, problems and new ideas were held which helped in team bonding and formulations of stronger plans for a better event. The event was conducted smoothly with efficient crowd handling and proper distribution of schedules so as to guide the students across the North and South campus of the college and have a good time at MindSpark.
Another highlight of the event was the Keynote Lecture series that involved eminent personalities from the fields of science and technology delivering inspirational talks. This year’s Keynote lecture series were graced by Dr. K Radhakrishnan, ex-chairman of ISRO, and Mr. P Chidambaram, former cabinet minister of India. A special Tech-Talk was also organized in which Mr.Diwakar Vaish, creator of India’s first Made in India Robot astounded and inspired the audience alike.
For the first time ever, MindSpark in its tenth edition also organized a Japanese Education Fair in collaboration with three Japanese Universities and a completely student organized Cybage Hackathon – a 24 hr coding event which dug out the best coders in Pune. Coke Studio Night was another crowd puller which had the band Lagori enthrall and energize the audience. Robotics Exhibition, Augmented and Virtual reality workshops, Hoverboard experience Centers and small energetic events all across the campus made the three day technical event worth a visit.
The credit of our success goes to the faculty of the college and the extended team members for their co-operation. Special thanks to the faculty adviser of the event Dr. Meera Murali Ma’m and Dean Student Affairs, Dr. S.L. Patil Sir, for their constant support and guidance. We would also like to thank Mr. Prachin Jain for extensively helping us with the technicalities involved for the Coke Studio Nite thereby making it a grand success.
