ECE Educator of Sona College of Tech, Salem, honoured with MTRES Teaching Excellence Award 2018

Education plays a vital role in building the future of our nation by transforming lives and communities. We have several educator heroes who help students aim high and achieve their potential, often meeting and overcoming considerable challenges along the way. Recently Delhi based MT Research & Educational Services (MTRES) came up with Teaching Excellence Awards (TEA) 2018, to recognize the monumental role teachers play in our society as they instil a desire to learn and achieve and create tomorrow’s leaders. Meet one of the awardees, Dr G. Ravi, Associate Professor, Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering, Sona College of Technology, Salem, who has been honoured with Excellent Teacher Award in MTRES TEA 2018.

Dr. Ravi has overall 16 years of experience in teaching and research. He completed his Bachelor of Engineering in V.L.B. Janaki Ammal College of Engineering and Technology (Bharathiyar University), Coimbatore, in 2002 and Master of Engineering in Sona College of Technology (Anna University), Salem, in 2007. He worked with Government College of Engineering, Adhiyaman College of Engineering and K.L.N College of Engineering as lecturer during the period 2002 to 2008. He has been associated with Sona College of Technology since 2008.

He earned his Ph.D. in Information and Communication Engineering from Anna University, Chennai, in 2016. His research areas are Wireless Communication, Wireless Ad hoc Networks, Wireless Sensor Networks and Optical Communication. He is a research supervisor in Anna University, Chennai, and is currently supervising 8 Ph.D. research scholars. He has also successfully guided 37 Masters and 12 graduate theses.

His research papers have appeared in number of academic and professional outlets, including Elsevier, Taylor & Francis, Inderscience and Springer, to name a few. He has attended many international Conferences, Symposiums and Workshops. He has published over 40 research papers in reputed international journals and conferences. He is also the R & D coordinator of Sona VLSI Systems and Communication Technology (VLSIComm) Research Centre in Sona College of Technology.

Dr. Ravi is Member of Board of Studies in Electronics and Communication Engineering at Sona College of Technology since 2010 and has developed syllabi for under graduate and post graduate programme. He has delivered many invited / plenary / expert lectures in India. He is also a Member of IEEE USA, and ISTE.

About MTRES
MT Research & Educational Services is an initiative to bridge the gap between academics and industry. It was founded in 2013 with the combination of industry, academic and research personnel. They execute various educational events (Conferences, Seminars, Workshops, Short Term Courses, Trainings and Competitions) throughout India.
