Automobile Engineering Educator from Titabor, Assam, honoured with MTRES Teaching Excellence Award 2018

Education plays a vital role in building the future of our nation by transforming lives and communities. We have several educator heroes who help students aim high and achieve their potential, often meeting and overcoming considerable challenges along the way. Recently Delhi based MT Research & Educational Services (MTRES) came up with Teaching Excellence Awards (TEA) 2018, to recognize the monumental role teachers play in our society as they instil a desire to learn and achieve and create tomorrow’s leaders. Meet one of the awardees, Dr. Porag Kalita, Post Graduate Teacher and HOD in Automobile Engineering Department of Vocational Education (+2) in M R S Higher Secondary School, Titabor, Assam, who has been honoured with Excellent Teacher Award in MTRES TEA 2018.

Dr Porag has overall 22 years of teaching experience. He joined as Post Graduate Teacher in Automobile Engineering from 1996 onwards. He completed his Ph. D. in Automobile Engineering from International University Contemporary Studies, USA, in 2001. The topic of his Ph.D. was Experimental setup to study on Automobile Emission Control and the Effect of Exhaust Gas Re-Circulation (EGR) system. He is currently Member of Editorial board of over 40 online UGC approved International journals. He is member of the Advisory Board of over 14 International Journals. He is a peer reviewer in around 50 international journals and over 90 national journals.

He has received many accolades for his contribution in the field of education and research. He appeared in interview of “Indira Gandhi Paryavaran Pursakar”, received recognition from the Ministry of Environment and Forests, New Delhi, in 2004, for his Automobile Engineering Research on control of automobile emissions. He has also received BOLT Award from Air India in 2004 and Medal of Honour (Gold) as part of Outstanding Personaly Awards in 1998.

He is member of several reputed organizations like SAE International, USA; IASED, Hongkong; Global Media & Marketing Professionals, The Teaching professor, etc. He is a Fellow member of IFERP. He has been invited to deliver lectures on his research in several national and international seminars. He has edited three books, Total Quality Management in Vocational Education (+2) (Vol. 1), Automobile Emission Control and its Servicing (Vol. 1) and Road and Transport Management (Vol. 1). Two more books viz; Board Diagnosis (OBD-II) and Emission Control, Automobile Brake System are under publication.
