Education plays a vital role in building the future of our nation by transforming lives and communities. We have several educator heroes who help students aim high and achieve their potential, often meeting and overcoming considerable challenges along the way. Recently Delhi based MT Research & Educational Services (MTRES) came up with Teaching Excellence Awards (TEA) 2018, to recognize the monumental role teachers play in our society as they instil a desire to learn and achieve and create tomorrow’s leaders. Meet one of the awardees, Dr. G. Vijay Kumar, Principal, VKR, VNB & AGK Engineering College, Gudivada, Krishna District, Andhra Pradesh, who has been honoured with Promising Teacher Award in MTRES TEA 2018.

Dr. G. Vijay Kumar has over 17 years of experience in Teaching. He did his M.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering from JNTU, Kakinada, in 2007. He completed his Ph.D. from SCSVMV University, Kanchipuram, in 2014. The topic of research during his Ph.D. was Biomedical Image Processing. He started his career in Teaching as Lecturer in VR Siddhartha Engineering College, Vijayawada, in 2001 and then he joined as Associate Professor & Head in CSE Department in Sri Sunflower College of Engineering & Technology, Lankapalli, in 2007. He joined as Associate Professor and Head of CSE in VKR, VNB & AGK College of Engineering, Gudivada in 2010. Currently, he works as Professor and Principal at the Institution.

He has guided more than 100 B.Tech. and IETE student projects. He has published over 30 papers in reputed national and international journals. He has been Official Reviewer for various conferences and journals. He is also a senior member of International Engineering and Technology Institute, Malaysia. He is an Editorial Board Member of SRC Publications, India. He is member of professional bodies like MBMSE, AMIETE, MISTE. He has also served as IT Manager, TCS – IoN Center at VKR, VNB & AGK College of Engineering between 2015 to 2017.

Dr. G. Vijay Kumar has been recognized by various organizations for his contribution in Teaching. He had received Career Award for young teachers from AICTE, New Delhi, in 2008. He had received Best Teacher Award by JNTU, Kakinada, for the Year 2013. He is the recipient of Outstanding Faculty Award in Biomedical Engineering by VIFA, Chennai, for 2016. He also received Young Achiever Award and Best Principal Award by IAEA, Bangalore, for the year 2016. He has been honoured with International Glory of India Award in Singapore by Citizens Integration Peace Society, New Delhi, in 2017.

MT Research & Educational Services is an initiative to bridge the gap between academics and industry. It was founded in 2013 with the combination of industry, academic and research personnel.
