HOD of Civil Engineering of ICEM Pune honoured with MTRES Research Excellence Award 2019

Our economy is based strongly on technology and innovation and research provides the building block upon which societal growth and advancement is hinged. Research has left an indelible mark on society and will forever be the basis for any genuine advancement in human society. Recently Delhi based MT Research & Educational Services (MTRES) came up with Research Excellence Awards (REA) 2019, to recognize the monumental role Researchers play in our society and to recognize the research excellence and contribution of Editors, Reviewers and Authors in their respective domains. Meet one of the awardees, Mr. Vijay Wairagade, Associate Professor and Head, Civil Engineering Department, Indira College of Engineering and Management, Pune, who has been honoured with Promising Author Award in MTRES REA 2019.

Prof. Vijay has strong Civil and Structural Engineering background with almost 30+ years of teaching and field experience. He completed his ME (Civil) from BITS, Pilani, in 1990. He has also completed MBA from Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj Nagpur University. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. from Savitribai Phule Pune University.

He started his career as a Lecturer in Rajiv Gandhi College of Engineering, Research and Technology, Chandrapur. He joined Indira College of Engineering and Management, Pune, in 2007 and is currently working as Associate Professor and Head of Civil Engineering Department at the institute. He has also worked as Guest Faculty for BID at S.P.College, Chandrapur.

A hard-working and diligent professional with an expertise in the construction areas of Housing, Commercial, Residential, Institutional and Interior Designing, Prof. Vijay has served in various committees of institutional and social charters. He was Member of LMC at Indira College of Engineering and Management, Pune, from 2007 to 2014, He was a Member of LMC at Saibaba Loksewa Trust, Nagpur (2004-09). He was a Member of Ad-hoc Board of Studies, Fire Engineering, Nagpur University, Nagpur (2004-06). He was also a Member of LEC at Nagpur University, Nagpur (2002-03).

He has been appreciated and honoured with several awards for his contribution in Teaching and Engineering. He was honoured with Best Engineering College Teacher Award for Maharashtra State – 2017 by ISTE. He was honoured with Outstanding contribution to Education Award at 8th DNA Innovative Education Award, Mumbai, in 2015. He was bestowed Best Teacher Award at ICEM for the academic years 2007-08 and 2009-10. He was also honoured with Best Contribution Award at RCERT, Chandrapur (2005-06).

He has presented 22 papers at National and International conferences and attended 60+ STTP, seminars and conferences.
