Started by four friends, Rolling Academy is a fast growing hub for Adventure sports in Pune

Started by young adventure and nature enthusiasts in Pune in Oct 2015, Rolling Academy is the upcoming destination to learn and experience off-beat adventure sports. This one of its kind venture is a brainchild of the team of fantastic four – Saurabh Jain, Ajay Shah, Ajinkya Jagtap and Hiten Momaya, who all believe that “Life begins at the end of one’s comfort zone!”

It all started when Saurabh got into Mountain Biking during his masters studies in Germany. Inspired by the way the Europeans stay connected to nature through various activities, Saurabh made up his mind and decided to bring this culture in India and inspire people to experience the ‘NATURE’ way of living. Ajay, who is also a cycling enthusiast and a cousin of Saurabh, decided to join happily. This duo came in contact with their good friends Ajinkya and Hiten who also wanted to do something meaningful and bring happiness to as many people as possible. With these principles in mind was born the concept of Rolling Academy, which is located in the popular and sprawling Sinhagad Mountains.

Mountain biking being the core, Rolling Academy conducts various activities like skateboarding, slacklining, camping, trekking and expedition, rock climbing and bouldering, art based activities, group and family activities, team building and organizational development programs and so on. All the activities revolve around nature and hence have a very high rejuvenation value.

All activities at Rolling Academy are conducted with two different methodologies – Athletic and Leisure. Renowned athletes/coaches in the particular sports conduct special training programs for the groups with athletic pursuits. To promote the mountain biking sport, Rolling Academy has developed special tracks and trails on which athletes can practice and hone their skills. For groups wanting to experience the thrill of these sports, Rolling Academy conducts these sports in a leisure based fashion with adequate safety mechanisms. With a view to empower the forthcoming generations with the energy of Nature, Rolling Academy has also started innovative programs for kids and youth.

When asked about what keeps him going, Saurabh says “People are happy about the kind of facility that we are developing. The happiness that they get while doing the activities and being connected to nature is what keeps us inspiring to do more. We are happy that we are able to create unique experiences for people. Our aim of connecting people to nature and creating an opportunity for them to come out of their busy city lives is getting fulfilled and that’s what keeps us motivating.” And here is what he has to say about the trend of adventure sports in Pune – “People have started picking up the new adventure sports and the trend is growing, which is a very positive sign. We are progressively adding more sports to our portfolio and aim to create a very unique destination for people, where happiness will be the greatest value shared!”

Demystifying thoughts to predict behavior

Much of what we don't understand about being human is simply in our heads. From those clusters of cells in our head arises the elusive, but powerful, mind. Despite our best attempts to "know ourselves," the truth is that we often know surprisingly little about our own minds, and even less about the way others think. Meet Psychologist Dr. Nitesh Kumar Jha, Clinical Research Officer at INCLEN (The International Clinical Epidemiology Network) Trust International, New Delhi, who has long sought insights into the complex mental processes that dictate human actions, and has made significant strides in lifting that veil of mystery.
