Abhed, a musical venture by renowned singer Shamika Bhide and her friends, organised a musical concert CONFLUENCE recently to celebrate World Music Day.
Abhed – Eternal journey of music by young, of young, for young!
Abhed was started to serve as a good platform for those young artists who are really talented but are not frequently seen performing for some reasons. Shamika and her team’s motive is to promote young talent, get inspiration from them, work sincerely and open a source to young audience to listen good and authentic Music. It aims to promote artists from all music genres, whether it is Indian Classical, Semi-Classical, folk or Western Classical. To start with, Abhed aims to organize regular music concerts to give a platform for such budding young talents.
Shamika is ably supported by her friends Swarangi Marathe (Actress, Classical Singer), Apurva Bhangdia (Event Management), Gaurav Korgaonkar (Musician, Arranger and Programmer), Shubhendu Pandit (Event Management) and Abhijit Bhat (Advertising and Design) in this venture.
CONFLUENCE ..A musical blend to soothe!
In line with their ambitions, Abhed celebrated World Music Day by organising their first music concert CONFLUENCE at Baal Shikshan Auditorium, Pune on 21 June 2016. The audience were presented with a musical treat of stellar performances by some of the young stalwarts of Indian classical and Maharashtrian folk music. The concert was conceptualized and directed by Shamika.
The Performers
Shruti Vishwakarma is a young, promising and rising vocalist of Indian Classical Music gifted with sweet voice. She performed Raag Marwa and a Dadra with astounding vocal improvisations.
Sweekar Katti has performed in many Classical and Fusion Concerts at prestigious Music Festivals in India and Abroad. He played Raag Rageshri and mesmerized the audience as his fingers traversed playfully on the fret-board of his sitar.
Avadhoot Gandhi is a promising folk artist, who has mastered Maharashtrian folk music like bhajan, kirtan, bharud. He has performed in prestigious platforms like Bajagaja and Ruhaniyat. His soulful music matched by depth of devotion lifted the hearts of the audience to magical heights.
The dream of establishing an organisation completely formed by youngsters to promote young artists is one of the most vital reasons that triggered me to go on and form ‘Abhed’ – Shamika

With the boost received from a successful Season 1 of CONFLUENCE, Team Abhed plans to soon come back with their Season 2.
About Shamika Bhide, Singer, Director of Abhed
Shamika is a young versatile talented singer from Ratnagiri, Maharashtra. She shot to fame when she was amongst the top 10 finalist of the first season of the very popular Zee Marathi music show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Marathi Li’l Champs when she was 14. Since then there is no looking back. She recorded for her first album Aathva Swar in 2010 and recorded her first playback song for the upcoming marathi movie Yaaro ki Yaari last month. She also regularly performs in many live shows and music festivals.
