Meet Pune based Yogesh Wani, General Manager and Head-HR, working in a French auto component company, who was recently honoured with Top 100 HR Minds of India Award at the 26th World HRD Congress held in Mumbai.
It wasn’t in HR where Yogesh began his professional journey. After completing his science graduation from Pune University, he started working with one of the big pharmaceutical companies as a medical representative. However, within just 6 months, he realized he isn’t enjoying his work. He decided to move on and later joined an NGO working for school going children in Pune. Aligning himself with the mission and vision of the organization, he enjoyed the nature of job he was doing which was in HR Support function. He went on to work with them for almost 5 years.
Working at the NGO was the turning point for me. Morning 8 to evening, I was fully engaged in my work and job satisfaction was at its peak . Hence I decided to pursue my masters in HR and that was the beginning of my career truly.

His first Corporate opportunity in HR and a quantum leap of sorts in his professional journey was with Tata Autocomponent Ltd. Here he started getting familiar with the industry and its associated human resource challenges. He later on climbed the organization ladder and worked with companies like Endurance Tech. Ltd. (suspension division) and Racold Thermo (Ariston Group-Italy). He currently works as General Manager in a French Auto component company and heads its India HR Function. He is responsible for OD interventions, Employee Engagement, Talent management, Industrial Relations.

He has rich experience in HR operations & management, labor & workforce relations / engagement, change management, HR policies and compliance, ethics governance, driving critical HR projects & Improvement Initiatives. He is well adept in launch of new business process of organization development that addresses issues such as succession planning, superior workforce development, key employee retention, organization design and change management with an extensive experience in dealing with Government & Industry bodies.
My aim is not about just running the HR department rather than to work cohesively to achieve the desired outcomes for the business.
