Young at 55 – Pune’s oldest Art Institute, Chitrakalpa, continues to grow bigger and stronger

Chitrakalpa Art Institute is the oldest and a renowned art institute in Pune. It was established in 1961 by Shri Gangadhar Krishnarao Apte. Back then, it started functioning as household art classes. Then his son, Shri Anand G. Apte, a school teacher, introduced various creative courses, helping the institute grow in all direction of art forms. He celebrated the Silver Jubilee of the Institute with its first Art Exhibition in 1985 to encourage the creativity and potential of his students. The tradition continues till date.

When asked about what is in store for the future, Milind sir says, “Art Institute चे रूपांतर Art College मध्ये करण्याचा मानस आहे. तसेच पुण्याबाहेर शाखा काढण्याचा मानस आहे.”

He sums it up with these words – “प्रत्येकामध्ये कला असतेच फक्त ती जोपासण्याची इच्छा पाहिजे.

Demystifying thoughts to predict behavior

Much of what we don't understand about being human is simply in our heads. From those clusters of cells in our head arises the elusive, but powerful, mind. Despite our best attempts to "know ourselves," the truth is that we often know surprisingly little about our own minds, and even less about the way others think. Meet Psychologist Dr. Nitesh Kumar Jha, Clinical Research Officer at INCLEN (The International Clinical Epidemiology Network) Trust International, New Delhi, who has long sought insights into the complex mental processes that dictate human actions, and has made significant strides in lifting that veil of mystery.
