Educator from D.S.U. Honoured with MTRES Teaching Excellence Award 2019

Education plays a vital role in building the future of our nation by transforming lives and communities. We have several educator heroes who help students aim high and achieve their potential, often meeting and overcoming considerable challenges along the way. Recently Delhi based MT Research & Educational Services (MTRES) came up with the second edition of their Teaching Excellence Awards (TEA) 2019, to recognize the monumental role teachers play in our society to create tomorrow’s leaders as they instil a desire to learn and achieve. The awards celebrate the efforts of all those who go above and beyond to promote excellence within our education system. Meet Dr. Anupama Ghoshal, Asst. Professor, School of Commerce and Management Studies (SCMS), Dayananda Sagar University (DSU), Bengaluru, who has been honoured with Promising Teacher Award in MTRES TEA 2019.

With more than 21 years of work experience, Dr Anupama began her professional career with the corporate world, in the Banking and Financial Services sector, and served companies like SodexhoPass Services India Pvt Ltd, HDFC Bank and ICICI Prudential Life Insurance between 1998 to 2005. She has been working in academic sector from 2006 till date. She has worked in reputed academic institutions like PES-IUP, ISBR and joined Dayananda Sagar University in 2016.

Having rich education background with M.B.A. From University of Calcutta, M. Phil. From West Bengal University of Technology and Ph.D. from Jain University, Dr Anupama is an active researcher in the domain of consumer behaviour. She has published several research papers in reputed Journals including Scopus and UGC CARE listed Journal. She has received multiple Best Paper Awards for research articles presented in reputed International Conferences. She is focused on inculcating research orientation in students and is presently guiding 4 Ph.D. Research Scholars in Management at DSU.

Using her experience in both corporate and education sector, Dr Anupama has organized multiple workshops and guest lectures for improvement of student and faculty achievements and has created new channels for internship and dissertation opportunities for the students. She is highly effective in inspiring students to learn with her focus on Applied Learning orientation and using blended learning and flipped classroom methodologies. She employs innovative pedagogies to improve teaching practices by engaging students with field activities, quizzes, role plays, group discussions, industry interactions and Case Teaching for enhanced student learning outcomes. She analyses the students’ individual learning background and customises their learning journey and touch points to help them excel in their field.

She has been a member of the Board of Examiners (BOE) of DSU, a member of the Board of Studies (BOS) of the University for Management curriculum development and MBA Placement coordinator. She has also served as MBA Alumni coordinator wherein she worked diligently on continuous Alumni Connect for the University to nurture alumni relationships for mutual university-alumni networking and collaboration.

With a strong sense of commitment to her profession, Dr. Anupama’s endeavours focus on excelling in teaching, research and consulting towards knowledge creation and dissemination, for the interest of students and industry practitioners, in line with the aims and objectives of her institution.
