Geo-Sciences Expert from Udaipur honoured with MTRES Research Excellence Award 2019

Our economy is based strongly on technology and innovation and research provides the building block upon which societal growth and advancement is hinged. Research has left an indelible mark on society and will forever be the basis for any genuine advancement in human society. Recently Delhi based MT Research & Educational Services (MTRES) came up with Research Excellence Awards (REA) 2019, to recognize the monumental role Researchers play in our society and to recognize the research excellence and contribution of Editors, Reviewers and Authors in their respective domains. Meet one of the awardees, Dr. Govind Singh Bhardwaj, Professor (Retd) In-charge Engineering Geology Laboratory and University Nodal Officer G.I.S., Department of Mining Engineering, College of Technology and Engineering, Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology, Udaipur, who has been honoured with Excellent Author Award in MTRES REA 2019.

Dr. Bhardwaj is contributing to the society by his Nature-friendly, Geo-friendly and Geo-social approaches for problem solving and constructive purposes in applied and basic research in his field. He has 35 years of teaching and research experience and is still going strong with his high impact research work. He graduated in 1979, completed PG in M.Sc Geology in 1981, Post PG in M.Sc Technology Applied Geology in 1983 and Ph.D. in 2003.

His creative and innovative ideas and inputs of expertise are certainly a landmark contribution towards safe guarding the mother earth and society, using different tools available in the fields of Geo-science, Engineering Geology, Geo-technology, GIS and Remote sensing, and Environmental Conservation. His contribution in Indian Mineral Industry’s orientation towards Geo-friendly Mining, boosting civil engineering construction and environmental protection in the field of highways development, geo-technical assessment of existing and proposed road network in hilly areas is remarkable. His concept of the Geo-Social Development has been appreciated at international level.

He has authenticated more than 350 publications in reputed national / international journals and magazines. He has delivered numerous lectures / speeches as invited speaker / resource person; participated in several radio talks, TV channels live bites and panel discussions on scientific topics; and has been active in different national and international platforms / forums around skill development and education. He is presently working on development of early warning online system for earthquake and landslides. His YouTube channel Geo-Explore-Unearth the Earth Mine is dedicated to educate about the technical advancements and social aspects in the field of geo-sciences.

Dr. Bhardwaj is Member of many professional societies like Geological Society of India; The Mining, Geological and Metallurgical Institute of India; Mining Engineers Association of India; Geoscientists Society of Rajasthan, Member SME, USA; SNDEE Nepal, etc. He is National Secretary of Geo-Scientists Society; National President of Bhartiya Adhyapak Parishad Delhi; Member of District level Environment Appraisal Authority of Dungarpur, Rajasthan; UGC Resource Person for Indian Universities Teachers Development. He has also visited Turkey, Bangladesh, China, Japan for international assignments as Organizing Committee Member, Technical Session Chairman, Invited Speaker, Keynote Speech Speaker, Research Paper presenter, etc.

Dr Bhardwaj has been honoured with several awards that recognize his contribution in the field. Notable among these are appreciation from Urban Improvement Trust Udaipur, District Level Best Teachers Award 2007; University Best Professor Award (2009 and 2011); International Professional Research Paper Awards at Sylhet University Of Science and Technology, Bangladesh (2011 and 2012); The Mining Geological and Metallurgical Society of India’s Smt Bala Tondon National Award (2011), Outstanding Service Award (2013) by the Lokjan Seva Sansthan, Udaipur; The Teacher’s Excellence National Award 2015 by the Confederation of Education Excellence, Delhi and supported by Ministry of Ayush, Government of India; felicitated and honoured for contribution in quality education by the King sons (Maharaja) Group of Institutions, Udaipur (2016); and National Award From Global Management Council, Ahmedabad.
