Our economy is based strongly on technology and innovation and research provides the building block upon which societal growth and advancement is hinged. Research has left an indelible mark on society and will forever be the basis for any genuine advancement in human society. Recently Delhi based MT Research & Educational Services (MTRES) came up with Research Excellence Awards (REA) 2019, to recognize the monumental role Researchers play in our society and to recognize the research excellence and contribution of Editors, Reviewers and Authors in their respective domains. Meet one of the awardees, Dr. Saurabh Manro, Teacher, Govt. Middle School Khattra, Near Khanna, Ludhiana, Punjab, who has been honoured with Excellent Author Award in MTRES REA 2019.

Dr. Saurabh Manro

Dr Saurabh has completed M. Sc. (Mathematics) from Punjab University, Chandigarh, and M. Phil. (Mathematics) from Periyar University, Salem. He completed his Ph. D. from Thapar University, Patiala, with his core research in the field of Fixed Point Theorems in various abstract spaces. He has also completed Post Doctorate (Mathematics), Post Graduate Diploma in Applied Statistics (PGDAST), B.Ed., M.Ed., UGC (NET) – CSIR, and had also qualified in GATE (All India Rank – 14, Year 2016).

He started his professional journey as an Assistant Professor, Mathematics, at Regional Institute of Management and Technology, Mandi Gobindgarh, Punjab, where he taught to undergraduate and graduate students. However, he realized that his real calling was towards building a stronger foundation for students at school level itself and so, at the start of year 2007, he left this job and joined Government Service as a Science Teacher at Govt. High School, Sirthala, Ludhiana. He taught Math / Science from 6th to 12th class students at this school. Later, in July 2012, he got transferred to Govt. Middle School Khattra, Near Khanna, Ludhiana. Here, he teaches Math / Science from 6th to 8th class students.

He is Life Member of Indian Mathematical Society, Ramanujan Mathematical Society and The Association of Mathematics Teachers in India. Being a Math Master Trainer, he has attended many in-service training / seminars as a Resource Person. He has published over 120 research papers of Mathematics in International Journals. He is Member of Editorial team of over 30 International Journals and Reviewer of more than 9 International Journals. Recently, he received Honorary D-Litt. Award from University of Asia (given by Dr. S. Radhakrishnan Teacher’s Welfare Association).

He has introduced innovative pedagogies notwithstanding the limited resources at his disposal. He has made many innovative TLMs in Maths that can be used to explain the concepts in much easier way. He has received accolades at Block and District level for his ingenuity. One of his TLM, Congruency and Similarity Model, was selected for state level participation in Inspire Award. He has often scored first rank at Block level and District level Science Fairs among Teaching Aid Competitions. He was instrumental in getting the Vipnet club of his school upgraded to Gold Category Club for the Session 2018-19. What made his efforts stand out was that theirs was the only club of a Government School in Punjab that was assigned Gold category.

My future plans include giving free education to poor and needy students, to open book bank at District level through which poor students get free books and to open an NGO at district level that works on providing free education to poor students.
