Meet Chef Shrunkhala Sharma – a single mother, a MBA in Marketing, Winner of Pune Super Chef 2016 and who has participated in the famous cookery show Mejwani Paripoorna Kitchen on Colors TV Marathi. Partnering with her sister Aanchal Sharma, she started her venture Treat Away that aspires to become the best Vegetarian Premium Food Service in Pune.
Chef Shrunkhala’s food journey began when she was going through a health issue in Lagos, Nigeria, wherein she could not consume any spices at all. And being a spice-lover, it was a tough phase. There were days when she had to carry her own meals for parties as well as an induction cooker for vacation trips. Nonetheless, every situation she faced, she found a positive side to it. This health condition got her closer to understanding basic flavors, spice alternative and nutritionally rich ingredients that could easily be made with a look of a party snack or meal. In no time, once friends and family members started trying her creations; she became a popular chef personality within the Indian Community in Lagos.

In the process of becoming a chef, she learnt that the culinary society demands successful chefs to prepare non-vegetarian dishes. As well as there was not even a single culinary institute in India that encouraged pure vegetarian cooking. A strict vegeterian, Shrunkhala aims to one day inspire other vegetarian / vegan chefs to proudly highlight their skills and challenge the norms. Since 2014, she started participating in cooking competitions and has won many due to her varied knowledge from her foreign trips and her passion towards food. She was the winner of Urja MasterChef 2015 in Lagos, Nigeria. Around December 2015, she had to move back to Pune due to personal family reasons. And by May 2016, Chef Shrunkhala along with her sister Aanchal Sharma decided to give her talent a brand name – Treat Away.
The thought process behind Treat Away was to cater to house parties, wherein many caterers only take orders for 50+ people; Treat Away accepted order for even a minimum group of people. It is a 100% vegetarian Premium House Party Catering Service. They specialize in customized party menus which include authentic and fusion Indian & Continental cuisines; that are made to order with fresh ingredients and nothing is pre-prepared. They do not limit themselves when it comes to innovation.
