UXness recently organised their first design event on Gamification in Enterprise Software as part of UX Gupshup meetup. UX Gupshup is a pune based meetup group of UX enthusiasts formed to exchange ideas, share knowledge and collaborate on UX. This event was conducted to spread awareness about Gamification and how it can be effectively used in Enterprise Software. Many design enthusiasts, IT professionals, entrepreneurs attended the session and they thoroughly enjoyed the topic.
Gamification is becoming a common buzzword in business these days. Many companies are now using it to transform their business models by crafting long term engagement, drive customer and employee loyalty. Gamification techniques strive to leverage people’s natural desires for socializing, learning, mastery, competition, achievement, status, self-expression, altruism, or closure. A review of research on Gamification shows that a majority of studies on it find positive effects from it.
Gamification is the application of game-design elements and game principles in non-game contexts. It is the process of taking something that already exists – a website, an enterprise application, an online community and integrating game mechanics into it to motivate participation, engagement, and loyalty.
In this event, team UXness discussed about basics of gamification, game mechanics, and enterprise software & why there is need to gamify enterprise software.
