UXness recently organised their first design event on Gamification in Enterprise Software as part of UX Gupshup meetup. UX Gupshup is a pune based meetup group of UX enthusiasts formed to exchange ideas, share knowledge and collaborate on UX. This event was conducted to spread awareness about Gamification and how it can be effectively used in Enterprise Software. Gamification is becoming a common buzzword in business these days. Many companies are now using it to transform their business models by crafting long term engagement, drive customer and employee loyalty. Gamification techniques strive to leverage people’s natural desires for socializing, learning, mastery, competition, achievement, status, self-expression, altruism, or closure. A review of research on Gamification shows that a majority of studies on it find positive effects from it.

Gamification is the application of game-design elements and game principles in non-game contexts. It is the process of taking something that already exists – a website, an enterprise application, an online community and integrating game mechanics into it to motivate participation, engagement, and loyalty.

In this event, team UXness discussed about basics of gamification, game mechanics, and enterprise software & why there is need to gamify enterprise software.

Demystifying thoughts to predict behavior

Much of what we don't understand about being human is simply in our heads. From those clusters of cells in our head arises the elusive, but powerful, mind. Despite our best attempts to "know ourselves," the truth is that we often know surprisingly little about our own minds, and even less about the way others think. Meet Psychologist Dr. Nitesh Kumar Jha, Clinical Research Officer at INCLEN (The International Clinical Epidemiology Network) Trust International, New Delhi, who has long sought insights into the complex mental processes that dictate human actions, and has made significant strides in lifting that veil of mystery.
