Education plays a vital role in building the future of our nation by transforming lives and communities. We have several educator heroes who help students aim high and achieve their potential, often meeting and overcoming considerable challenges along the way. Recently Delhi based MT Research & Educational Services (MTRES) came up with Teaching Excellence Awards (TEA) 2018, to recognize the monumental role teachers play in our society as they instil a desire to learn and achieve and create tomorrow’s leaders. Meet one of the awardees, Dr. Abdul Aziz Khan, Assistant Professor, Department of Tahaffuzi wa Samaji Tib (Preventive and Social Medicine), Faculty of Unani Medicine, Ajmal Khan Tibbiya College (AKTC), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), who has been honoured with Excellent Teacher Award in MTRES TEA 2018.

Dr. Abdul Aziz Khan
Dr Abdul Aziz Khan completed his B.U.M.S. (Bachelor of Unani Medicine & Surgery) from AMU in 2002 and M.D. Hifzane Sehat (Preventive & Social Medicine) from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bengaluru, in 2009. He has also done P. G. Diploma in Public Health from Indian Institute of Alternative Medicine, in 2007. He has more than 16 years of experience in teaching. He started his professional career in teaching at Aligarh Unani and Ayurvedic Medicine College, Aligarh, in 2002. He later joined Deoband Unani Medical College & RC, Deoband, in 2005. He joined Ajmal Khan Tibbiya College (AKTC), Faculty of Unani Medicine, AMU, in 2009 and has been associated with the Institution ever since.
He is involved in teaching both the UG and PG students. He specializes in Tahaffuzi wa Samaji Tib / Hifzane Sehat, Epidemiology, Behavioral Sciences, Nutrition, and Ilaj-Bit-Tadbeer (Regimental Therapy). He has guided scholars in their MD Theses at AMU. He also served as MD Thesis Examiner at MUHS, Nashik, between 2012 to 2014. He was appointed as Expert, Interview Board, for the selection of the Teachers (PG) in Deoband Unani Medical College Hospital and Research Centre, Deoband, U.P., by Ch. Charan Singh University, Meerut.
He has published over 120 Papers / Abstract in Journals / Periodicals / Souvenirs of National and International repute. He has contributed a chapter in one published book and there are three more books ready for publication that have chapters authored by him. He has also authored 4 books, one of which is under publication with Simanan International, New Delhi, and the manuscripts of the remaining are under review.
He has served as Resource Person (as Unani Expert) for Hamdard (Wakf) Laboratories Online Portal, New Delhi, in 2014. He was also Visiting Expert / Consultant at Cure Herbal Remedies at its manufacturing unit at Mirzapur pole, Saharanpur in 2014. He has served as Assistant Editor, Journal of Integrated Community Health (JICH) between 2012 to 2016.
He has received Best Paper Award in National Seminar on “Healthy Minds for Healthy Nation” organized by Dr. Zakir Husain Foundation, Aligarh, in 2017. He was also awarded with Best Paper (Oral Presentations) in TSTCON – 2017 National Conference on Depression organized at AMU in 2017. He has delivered Guest / Invited / Extension lectures at multiple institutions. He was also invited at The Institute of Indigenous Medicine (IIM), University of Colombo, Rajagiriya, Sri Lanka, to attend 1st International Conference on Unani, Ayurveda, Siddha and Traditional Medicine (ICUASTM) in 2013.

MT Research & Educational Services is an initiative to bridge the gap between academics and industry. It was founded in 2013 with the combination of industry, academic and research personnel. They execute various educational events (Conferences, Seminars, Workshops, Short Term Courses, Trainings and Competitions) throughout India.
