Our economy is based strongly on technology and innovation and research provides the building block upon which societal growth and advancement is hinged. Research has left an indelible mark on society and will forever be the basis for any genuine advancement in human society. Recently Delhi based MT Research & Educational Services (MTRES) came up with Research Excellence Awards (REA) 2019, to recognize the monumental role Researchers play in our society and to recognize the research excellence and contribution of Editors, Reviewers and Authors in their respective domains. Meet one of the awardees, Dr. K. Pattabiraman, Asst. Professor, Department of Mathematics, Government Arts College (Autonomous), Kumbakonam, Tamil Nadu, who has been honoured with Excellent Author Award in MTRES REA 2019.

Dr. K. Pattabiraman

Dr. Pattabiraman completed his graduation in B.Sc. (Mathematics) from Government Arts College, C.Mutlur, affiliated to Madras University. Subsequently he did his M.Sc. (Mathematics), M.Phil. (Mathematics) and Ph.D. (Mathematics) from Annamalai University, Chidambaram. He began his professional career as a lecturer in Mathematics at Annamalai University, Chidambaram, in 2006. He was deputed from Annamalai University to Government Arts College (Autonomous), Kumbakonam, in May 2017. He is currently working as an Assistant Professor of Mathematics at the Institute.

The focus area of research of Dr. Pattabiraman is Combinatorics and in particular, Graph Theory and Mathematical Chemistry which are vast areas in Mathematics. He has published more than 100 articles in this area in reputed journals like Elsevier, Springer and various other Science Citation Indexed Journals and Scopus Indexed Journals. He has been serving as a Reviewer for various reputed International journals in Mathematics, viz; Discrete Applied Mathematics, Ars Combinatoria, Utilidas Mathematica, Discrete Mathematics, Algorithms and Applications, International Journal of Quantum Chemistry and many more.

In Graphy Theory, I would like to work on Graph Parameters with applications in Chemistry and Graph Coloring which are the driving forces of graph theory to study the properties and activities of molecular structure in an economical way. I believe that this topic will definitely help mathematics and chemistry groups to solve some of the open problems in these areas.

Dr. Pattabiraman has been acting as a Research Supervisor since 2012. Under his guidance, two students have been awarded Ph.D. (Mathematics) and three students have submitted their thesis. He authored one book chapter which has appeared in Trends in Mathematics published by Springer and ranked in Scopus. He has served as Invited Speaker for various Universities in India, Thailand and Malaysia. He has attended multiple conferences / workshops at both National and International level.
