Nearly 120 people from all over India and abroad presented their papers that were judged by well experienced subject experts. The thought provoking intellectual sessions lead to very useful interactions and sharing of information. Shikha Sharma, Asst. Professor of Journalism and Mass Communication, won the Best Paper Presenter Award for her research on the role of films as a tool of communication and perception building of masses.

The research of Rahul Tiwari, a second year BSc Physics and Mathematics student of R.D.S.H. National College, Mumbai, shows that a unique approach of embedding a laser dye Stilbene-3 (STB) in a solid host like sol-gel glass shows excellent spectroscopic properties that can have potentially wide ranging applications. He won the first prize in the discipline of Pure Sciences in the recently concluded State Level Inter University Research Convention, Avishkar, held at Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University, Nanded.

Meet Nashik based Aishwarya Andhrutkar, pursuing masters in Interior Designing, who recently won first prize among students at the Interior Design Awards, a competition organized by the Nashik Infrastructure Magazine. Buoyed by her success, she now aspires to setup her own design firm.

As a child, Yogini Gandhi did not have much interest and was not aware of her skills in Maths until she was in Grade 9 when she met a teacher who made it interesting and fun for her. She ended up loving Maths so much that she not only opted for Engineering but also decided to make a career in teaching Maths. Her passion for Maths made her start Creative Learning Lab, a child centric creative learning centre in Pune for students from 4 to 14 year old. With over 100 students already reaping the benefits of her teaching style, Yogini has also started delivering online courses on demand for Indian students studying abroad.

As per UNICEF data, about 800 women across the globe die every day of preventable causes related to pregnancy and childbirth, 20 per cent of these women are from India. Preventive healthcare during pregnancy can go a long way in bringing down this mortality rate. In medical terms, such an approach is called Antenatal Care. Trupti Naikare, a B.A.M.S. student of Tilak Ayurved College, Pune has developed a mobile app that can provide Antenatal Care at the tip of fingers. She was awarded first prize under Humanities category for her innovative solution in the recently concluded State Level Inter University Research Convention, Avishkar, held at Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University, Nanded.

HackD 2016 Winners - College of Engineering Pune

Three students from the College of Engineering in Pune won HackD 2016 – Code for a Cause Hackathon organized by Envestnet India last month. Out of 40 teams competing from reputed colleges all over India, including IITs and NITs, 10 teams were shortlisted for the final 24-hour hackathon round at Envestnet office in Trivandrum. The team of Ajit Rajurkar, Reshul Dani and Jay Lohokare from College of Engineering, Pune (CoEP) won the competition and Rs. 3 lakh prize money for their innovative personalized credit scoring system for the finance sector.
